Vancouver’s latest restaurant arrivals cover several important food groups: bright Peruvian seafood, spicy New York-style pizza and Italian sandwiches stacked high enough to complicate your lunch break. Here are three recently opened spots to try next.
1. Raw Deal
From Restaurant Award-winning Suyo chef Ricardo Valverde comes Uchu, a cevicheria and raw bar drawing on Valverde’s Chinese-Peruvian ancestry.
The seafood concept highlights Peru’s Chifa cuisine and features a “live-action” raw bar, where guests can watch their ceviche and tiraditos—sashimi-style raw fish slices with ceviche sauce poured over top—being prepared in real time.

2. Pizza My Heart
Belli Pizza serves up New York-style pizza and natural wines. Funky decor—hey, disco ball!—and hip-hop tunes aren’t the only things that make this place hot.
To kick things up a notch, a handful of its Italian-American pies, including the Vesuvius and Hawaiian, are drizzled with a spicy, umami-rich house-made bomba diavolo sauce.

3. ’Wiching Hour
Dante Italian Sandwich’s cozy six-seat location is open from 10:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., or until the sandwiches sell out.
We recommend getting your hands on the stacked caprese sandwich, layered with basil, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, arugula, a tangy balsamic reduction and Grana Padano.
This is the third location for the sandwich franchise from the minds behind Via Tevere.
