Restaurant Awards 2026: Editors’ Choice, Best Bakeries

These two bakeries wowed our editors and deserved special recognition in the 2026 Restaurant Awards.

For the 2026 Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards, we continued our new tradition of Editors’ Choices: picks from our editorial team which highlight the rooms in the city that serve a specific purpose, in addition to having great food and service.

Editors’ Choice: Best Bakeries

Mishmish, 3485 Fraser St., mishmish.ca
Beaucoup, multiple locations, beaucoupbakery.com

A big part of being a Vancouverite is loving a good, cool coffee shop, especially one that’s also quietly holding you hostage with fresh-baked treats. (Anything can be a co-working space if you’ve got the right attitude and a suspicious number of refills.) At Mishmish (pictured), the Middle Eastern bakery-café on Fraser, that “just one coffee” plan tends to collapse somewhere between a sesame ka’ak bagel and a halva cornflake cookie (paired perfectly with your halva latte or the life-choice-in-the-best-way that is the candy bar latte). Over at Beaucoup, the French pastry darling with Kits and downtown outposts, the display case is basically a dare, with buttery, caramelized kouign amann leading the charge. Different neighbourhood energy, same outcome: you came for caffeine and left with a pastry box you’ll “share at home.” Sure.
