Ask For Luigi Gets Its Very Own Miss Vickie’s Flavour

The beloved Railtown eatery is making a big splash (make that crunch) with a new cacio e pepe potato chip flavour.

Beloved Italian eatery and Railtown staple, Ask for Luigi, just got its very own potato chip flavour.

The Michelin-guide recommended restaurant teamed up with legendary potato chip company Miss Vickie’s for a limited-release run of one of the spot’s most-ordered dishes: cacio e pepe.

“We chose cacio e pepe because it’s timeless. [It’s] cheese, pepper [and] pasta and yet it’s become a bit of a modern obsession, too. That blend of tradition and trend is what makes Vancouver’s food scene so dynamic, and we loved the idea of capturing that in something as unexpected as a chip,” Jennifer Rossi, co-founder of Ask for Luigi, tells Vanmag.

The restaurant is one of three across Canada that were selected to bring their dishes to life in the new “Ristorante Series” through a bag of chips, along with Montreal’s Nora Gray and Toronto’s Pizzeria Badiali.

Voted Best Pasta and Best Gastown in the 2024 Vancouver Magazine Reader’s Choice Awards, Ask for Luigi’s signature dish is crystallized “through a perfect balance of sharp, creamy cheese and black pepper” all in one bite.

“It’s a culinary dream to bring together beloved Italian dishes with the unmistakable crunch of Miss Vickie’s,” writes Lisa Allie, senior director of marketing at PepsiCo Foods Canada, in a release. “This new series is a celebration of Canadian culinary culture, and we’re so proud to bring Canadians something special to enjoy across the country.”

We know it and our readers know it, and now the rest of Canada knows it, too: Ask for Luigi really is all that and a bag of chips.
