Sure, we at VanMag have our own Restaurant Awards, (and we’ve just launched Reader’s Choice, hint hint) but any time local eateries are celebrated, we’re excited to applaud right alongside—whether it be during the 2024 Michelin Awards or in this case, the 15th annual Chinese Restaurant Awards.

A couple of weeks ago we dropped the Chinese Restaurant Award’s top 30 long list—and now the day has finally come to announce the 15 winners (dubbed the Elite 15), plus the six individual award winners and critics’ signature dish awards.

The winners below include Cantonese upscale dining, Hong Kong-style hotpot, Sichuan seafood, and more—all highlighting the diversity of Chinese and Taiwanese cuisine here in Metro Vancouver. Read on for the 2024 Chinese Restaurant Award winners.

Chef’s Choice Chinese Cuisine

The cozy atmosphere at this authentic Hong Kong cuisine-focused restaurant creates a welcoming atmosphere to enjoy its signature fried sticky rice chicken, BBQ pork jowl with chicken living and dim sum.

Chinatown BBQ 

Located in Vancouver’s historic Chinatown, this beloved restaurant is known for its authentic Cantonese BBQ—and its founder Carol Lee, a champion for Vancouver Chinatown.

Dynasty Seafood Restaurant 

A fixture in Vancouver, the Cantonese restaurant expertly executes both dim sum and dinner dishes—and is known for its multi-course feasts.

The Fish Man

The Richmond restaurant is known for its Sichuan mala flavours and signature dishes like sour cabbage lingcod.

Golden Paramount Seafood Restaurant

Beloved for its take on Shunde cuisine, the Richmond restaurant is also known for its top-notch dim sum.

iDen and Quanjude Beijing Duck House

The restaurant is celebrated for its legendary roast duck and dishes that combine traditional flavours with contemporary ingredients.

The Jade Seafood Restaurant

Known for its authentic Cantonese cuisine, the restaurant’s standout dishes include elevated classics like stir-fried fish maw and scallops with mushrooms.

Landmark Hotpot House

A Vancouver staple for 35 years, the Hong Kong-style hotpot restaurant is also known for its late-night fare.

Max Noodle House

Known for its authentic wonton noodles in soup, lo-mein with braised pork hock and deep-fried dace balls, the restaurant is one of Richmond’s longest running Hong Kong-style noodle and congee eateries.

Memory Corner

The nostalgic, cozy room is beloved for its authentic Taiwanese dishes like lamb hot pot and crispy popcorn chicken.

Mott 32

The internationally renowned upscale Chinese restaurant is lauded for its elevated take on classics, from hot and sour soup dumplings to applewood-roasted Peking duck.

Osmanthus Chinese Fusion Restaurant

Though the restaurant only opened in 2023, it’s take on contemporary-meets-traditional Jiangnan cuisine makes it a standout in Metro Vancouver.

Sea Harbour Restaurant

Known for its blend of tradition and modern flavours, the elevated Cantonese restaurant features signature dishes like king crab with mayo-wasabi cream sauce and steamed eggs.
