The beloved Japanese lifestyle brand gets a pop-up shop as part of the upcoming Japan Unlayered exhibit.
When I went to Tokyo this past fall, the rest of the VanMag staff had one request: “Bring back Muji pens.”Looks like I could’ve saved myself the airfare. The cult Japanese lifestyle brand is coming to Vancouver in late January as part of the Japan Unlayered exhibit hosted by the Fairmont Pacific Rim. The pop-up event is intended to be a multi-sensory celebration of all things Japanese (from architecture displays to tea-tasting), but we’ll likely be rushing by it all to stock up on our fave Muji essentials from the Kengo Kuma-designed pavillian. The company has locations in other major outposts—including three in Toronto!—but has yet to plant a flag here, though rumours are swirling that the search is on for a permanent Vancouver location. This will hopefully tide us over. I know I’ll be stocking up on the beautifully simple essential oil diffusers, organic stripey crewneck tees…and pens for everyone in the office.
