Gain practical tools, fresh strategies and valuable new professional connections to strengthen literacy programming at the 2026 Decoda Literacy Conference, April 16–17, 2026 at the Radisson Hotel Vancouver Airport in Richmond, B.C. This dynamic, interactive event brings together leaders, practitioners, and advocates from across B.C.’s literacy community for two days of professional learning, connection, and inspiration.

Under the theme “Literacy: Bridging the Gaps,” the conference will explore innovative and inclusive strategies to support lifelong learning for learners of all ages and backgrounds. Attendees include adult and family literacy practitioners, community program leaders, researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders working to advance literacy in communities throughout the province and beyond.

Conference Highlights

  • Inspiring keynote speakers address current literacy issues and future directions.
    • Zahra Esmail, Chief Executive Officer at Vantage Point, a non-profit organization that strengthens and supports other non-profits in B.C.
    • Alexandra Samuel, technologist and journalist who covers Artificial Intelligence and the future of work. 
  • Interactive workshops and sessions focus on practical strategies, inclusive practices, and emerging trends in literacy education.
  • Networking and collaboration opportunities with literacy practitioners and leaders from across sectors.
