Spooky Season Is Here: We Want to Hear Your Vancouver Ghost Story

Have you ever run into a Gastown ghost? A Millennial-line apparition? We want to know all the deets.

For many, the beginning of October means leaning into all things pumpkin spice, cozy cocktails and giant Thanksgiving meals. But, we at Vanmag are shifting our autumnal loyalties this year and put a spotlight on spooky season by opening up our own eerie story-time.

Most of us have heard stories about things that go bump in the night in a way that just doesn’t seem quite…natural. In honour of the beginning of the Halloween season (which is a real thing, thank you very much) from today until October 15 we want to hear your Vancouver ghost stories.

If you’ve experienced something spooky that you just can’t get out of your head, we want to hear it.  Sure, if you saw an apparition form in the mist of the Steam Clock that would make for some mighty fine reading, but it doesn’t have to be so landmark-based. These stories can take place at home, on a winding street, on the beach as the last bit of light disappears over the horizon—wherever they take place, as long as it was in Vancouver, we want to hear them.

After scaring ourselves silly and reading through all the submissions, we will be sharing the best stories here and on our Instagram.

After you upload your story, you’ll be asked for your email. But don’t fret—this isn’t a secret spam-a lot-plot—we won’t be collecting your email unless you sign up for our newsletter (which, really, you’re missing out on if you’re not already subscribed). Otherwise, all you’ll receive is an email thanking you for submitting.

Please note: Our survey software is embedded below, and can sometimes take a moment or two to load. After you click “submit”, you’ll have to prove you’re a human and not a robot overlord—make sure you pass the CAPTCHA test too!
