1. Di Beppe’s Festa della Polenta

April 1 to 30

This annual polenta fest is back with a menu that includes pork cheek and polenta fritters (pictured above), Tuscan black pepper short ribs with polenta rustica and olive oil cake with red currant preserves and whipped Marscapone. The full menu is available as a prix-fixe set for $49 each, but you can get each dish a la carte, too.

2. The North Shore Art Crawl

Through April 12

The virtual North Shore Art Crawl has over 60 participating artists who whose work includes west coast landscapes, florals, textiles, photography, glasswork, portraits, pottery, nature scenes, abstract—you think it, they create it. Check out their studios, current exhibitions and interactive workshops online.

3. VAG’s Pictures and Promises

Through September 6

This exhibition is all about mass media, fashion and advertising (it’s like a much-higher-brow version of your Instagram feed). It’s the Capture Photography Festival’s feature exhibit for 2021 and includes work from 36 local and international artists.

4. Learn About Beavers

March 31

Feeling a little disconnected from nature? Here’s an unconventional antidote. This “Busy Beaver” workshop is all about the star of the nickel themselves. The Stanley Park Ecology Society’s public environmental educator Megan Manes takes the lead in this sort webinar on the beavers in Stanley Park, and how they take care of Beaver Lake. Dam hard work, right?

5. Boulevard’s Paella Dinner Series

March 28 to April 25

This Sunday night dinner series technically doesn’t run this weekend (Easter break!) but it usually sells out, so we’re giving you plenty of time to get tickets. Said tickets ($69 each and sold in groups of 2, 4 or 6—dine with your bubble only, folks!) include a glass of Cava, traditional savoury Tortilla Española, the star Paella, and a cheesecake crafted by Kenta Takahashi (winner of Canada’s Best Pastry Chef 2020).
