Spice up your life (and your iced lattes, cocktails (like this Blackberry Bourbon Sour from Nightshade) or whatever beverage you want to sweeten) with this simple (it’s in the name) syrup that’s infused with the delicate sweetness of cloves (or whatever spice you want to try!)
Ingredients
Makes 12 ounces (approx. 1 1/2 cups)
- 1 ½ teaspoons whole cloves
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar

How to Make:
Step One
Add all ingredients to a saucepan. Over medium heat, bring the syrup to a simmer (do not boil).
Step Two
Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Step Three
Let the syrup cool to room temperature. Then, refrigerate with the cloves overnight.
Step Four
The next day, strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve and serve.
Stored in the refrigerator, the syrup will keep for up to a month.
