This New Year’s Eve, the streets of downtown Vancouver will be abuzz with live music, fireworks, and general merrymaking. The Vancouver New Year’s Celebration Society—in partnership with Port Metro Vancouver and with support from the City of Vancouver—is hosting a free community celebration to ring in the New Year for the first time in over a decade. This fully-inclusive event, which takes place from 6 p.m. to just after midnight along Canada Place Way, aims to have something for everyone. For those with mini-partygoers in tow, a family countdown will take place at 9 p.m. to ensure the celebration doesn’t infringe on a junior curfew. For those seeking a more luxe experience beyond the free local entertainment, there will be an opportunity to purchase tickets for a licensed premium viewing lounge on the West Promenade of Canada Place. And for homebodies who would prefer to take in the festivities from the comfort of their living room, the countdown celebration will be broadcast live on Global B.C.“Vancouver is known throughout the world for its lively streets, vibrant community events and festivals. The free New Year’s Eve community celebration will be an exciting way to kick off the year ahead,” said Mayor Gregor Robertson in a release. “It’s fantastic to see community partners and sponsors coming together to help Vancouver ring in the New Year with a fantastic lineup of local entertainment, live music, fireworks, and family-friendly celebrations. The countdown is on for one of Vancouver’s best New Year’s Eves yet.” We’ll just have to wait and see.Vancouver New Year’s Eve CelebrationThursday, December 31, 2015Canada Place Way between Howe and Burrard StreetsTwitter: @NYEVancouver / #NYEVANFacebook: www.facebook.com/NYEVancouverInstagram: http://www.instagram.com/NYEVancouver
