What's inside the homes of your neighbourhood? The first in a five-part collaboration with Western Living magazine.
All we’ve ever wanted is to snoop around other people’s houses. Now, that dream is a reality with some help from our friends over at Western Living. In the first of our five-part series, a look inside a gorgeous modern Main Street condo, and some design tips to boot.A savvy realtor bought this space to flip—between 2005 and 2012, she bought and sold four properties within a four-block radius—but then fell in love with the incredible view and walk-to-everything location. The boutique Mount Pleasant development at 8th and Main was completely different than anything she’d toured before: four of the units had a generous 1,350 square feet of space in each; plus, the area was transitioning rapidly. Here, the designer (Moss and Oak Interiors) has just installed the floorboards up the wall.Add warmth with cozy textures. A bright and airy space like this could easily feel too cool, so make sure to add in some warmth with a mixture of textiles and organic fabrics. A wool throw and faux-fur blanket mingle with luxurious throw pillows on the grey upholstered couch; a nubby carpet rests under foot; and a warm leather Eames lounger finds a home in the corner.Fill your workspace with art to inspire. Forget bulletin boards and calendars—you need something beautiful to truly inspire great work. Include paintings and photographs alongside your desk to create a space with some personality.Bring your indoor style outside. Nothing makes your patio cozier than some textiles. We love decks that embrace a living room vibe, incorporating pretty pillows and modern planters to create a summer-ready outdoor space. Mix high and low (this patio uses a mix of pillows from Livingspace and Canadian Tire) for a one-of-a-kind look. For more pictures and design tips from this Mount Pleasant condo, check out the full story at Westernliving.ca
