Adapted from Marguerite Duras’ novel by Maud Andrieux, this play follows a French mother in 1930s Indochina as she fights to protect her crops from the encroaching waters. It’s a story of resistance against injustice, but also a powerful call to action and a reminder to chase our dreams.

Upon returning from a first trip to Vietnam in 2003, Maud discovered the writings of Marguerite Duras, which was a true literary revelation. This simple, repetitive, and cinematographic style made her want to adapt the 400-page novel for a one-woman show.
