Save the ocean by eating your way through Metrotown's new night market
There’s a new night market in town—Metrotown that is. From July 4-7, Metrotown’s brand new food-packed night market will be open to the public as part of their Under the Sea campaign with Ocean Wise. It’s true, saving the ocean never tasted so good.
The free-to-enter market is set to feature a wide range of local restaurants. Think Japanese fusion burgers (including a night market-exclusive Namban burger) from Wakwak Burgers, Japanese fusion bagels from Aburi’s WA Bagel, southern BBQ from Butcher’s Block BBQ, various dim sum (think rose tea-infused bao with toasted black sesame filling) from Kam Wai Dim Sum, braised beef shank scone sandwiches from Bon Moment, Filipino lechon and pork sisig tacos from Meza Grill, and Mexican and Latin food from Don Oso (hot tip: get the quesabirria).
Beyond the food offerings, Metropolis at Metrotown leans into the family fun vibes with an “under the sea” themed parade on July 6, July 20th and August 3rd from 12pm-1:30pm. Expect sea creature costumes, as well as jellyfish, coral reef and seaweed decor throughout the centre, including a six-metre sea dome in the Grand Court.
On July 13th and 14th, that massive dome will display 360-degree 4K footage of ocean environments with educators ready to answer all your kids’ (or yours, no judgment) questions about threats to the ocean, as well as advice on actions to protect it.
From July 17th to 19th you can pose for professional photos with props and displays. Prices start at $20 and a portion of the proceeds will go Ocean Wise. Note: there is free four-hour parking when you come for your visit.
