Hit up the ATM for some cash and then: time for some drag

As part of our November nightlife feature, we’re sharing the best ways to hit the town. Looking for live music venues? We’ve got you covered. Dance parties? Take your pick. And, yeah, we’ve got a vibrant, active drag scene, too, if that’s your idea of a great night out—any day of the week, you can find somewhere to cheer on some of the country’s best performers. Here are a few great spots to get you started.

5 Extremely Fun Drag Shows in Vancouver

Haze is hosted by Canada’s Drag Race star Hazel every Thursday at the Junction, featuring a rotating cast of Vancouver’s finest drag performers—start here for an introduction to local characters like AddiPose and fellow Drag Race contestant PM. 1138 Davie St., junctionpub.com

Drama Club is a sing-a-long drag show at Numbers (Vancouver’s oldest gay club, if you recall) but no matter how good your voice is, it’ll be tough to steal focus from the well-dressed divas on stage. 1042 Davie St., numbers.ca

Drag is alive and well over on the west side, with special shows happening regularly at the Hollywood Theatre. Notable past events include a Wicked- themed show hosted by bearded queen Alma Bitches, and DJ sets from Bob the Drag Queen. 3123 W Broadway, hollywoodtheatre.ca

The last Saturday of the month is Man Up at The Birdhouse, but don’t be fooled by the masculine name: the show is a “multi-gender spectacular” that features performers playfully, artfully challenging what drag can be. 44 W 4th Ave.,  @birdhouseartsspace

The stage at Celebrities is regularly graced by RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni, and it’s also the home to the annual search for Vancouver’s Next Drag Superstar (the current monarch is: Michelangela, pictured below, the cello-wielding “Latina symphonic queen”). 1022 Davie St., celebritiesnightclub.com
