Get lost in the sauce.
With poke places popping up faster than ever, how do you choose where to get your next bowl? If you’re me, it’s always Westcoast Poke. Founded this year by Anton Lohvin, Connor Mcnamee, and Zach Cho, Westcoast Poke was opened to fill a void of nutrient dense, tasty fast food, and customizable options in Vancouver. They have a small, bright and airy location just off of West 8th Avenue, and they’re planning on expanding to Richmond later this year.Locally sourced, Westcoast has four classic bowls – at $10.00 for snack size, $12.50 for a regular, and $15.00 for a large size – that are ready-made to grab-and-go, as well as options to customize your own. The Pacific Bowl (one of the four pre-made options) has fresh albacore tuna, shoya, cucumber, pickled red onions, crab salad, pineapple, mango, and green coconut curry sauce with the choice of multiple finishes. I got fried onion AND fried garlic (because how do you choose?). It’s packed with flavour, and it’s a quick easy way to re-fuel post workout—it’s always my go-to.But, unreal poke bowls aside, what sets Westcoast Poke apart from every other poke place is their sauces. You can choose to finish your bowl off with spicy yuzu siracha aioli, green coconut curry, miso ginger soy, gochu garlic aoili, maple soy, or wasabi aioli. The signature sauces are made in house—get ready to totally transform your bowl.
