This Indie Design Show is the Perfect Supplement to Your IDS Vancouver Schedule

Need a bigger design fix than IDS Vancouver can provide? The independent showcase “Field Trip” should do the trick.

It’s IDS Vancouver week, which means if you have any interest in design, your social calendar is likely packed to the brim with convention hall meet-ups and off-site parties and talks (and a few slow mornings spent recovering from all the fun).The revelry doesn’t end with the official IDS list of events, of course: a subset of other unofficial design events are popping up throughout town this week, too, capitalizing on the city’s current outpouring of affection for furniture makers et al.There’s Address, for one: the annual showcase of design goods curated by Kate Duncan is happening simultaneously (and hosting the IDS after party, even though it’s not affiliated otherwise). But for an even more guerrilla celebration of the design scene, add Field Trip to your to-do list. The group show features new and private works from emerging and established designers from North America and Europe throughout the hallways of 348 Water Street, surrounded by work from local makers New Format Studio, Jeff Martin Joinery, and Steven Haulenbeek.The opening reception for Field Trip is Friday, September 21st, from 6:00 p.m. til late—the perfect way to celebrate indie design after a day of being wowed on the show room floor by the big guns.RSVP here for the reception; public viewings open Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m to 6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
