The rapid closing of the Corner Suite Bistro De Luxe sent owner Steve da Cruz to run the bar program at the Waldorf Hotel (where he joins Kurtis Kolt, last year’s Sommelier of the Year). Corner Suite’s chef, Jason Liezert, was picked up by Boneta after the exit of chef/partner Jeremie Bastien (on a sabbatical in Asia). Cibo Trattoria and Uva Wine Bar GM Edward Perrow returned to head up Davie’s La Brasserie. He was replaced by former Divino manager David Fert. Ex-Salt staffer Brooke Delves became GM at Maenam following the exit of Tara Thom, who now manages Blue Water Cafe + Raw Bar. Barman Jay Jones landed at Market in the Shangri-La barely a year after launching Gastown’s Pourhouse (his sixth room in five years). He replaces Justin Tisdall, who’s settled into Chambar as general manager. Former Parkside server Corey Schwartz (one of Vancouver’s best) has found a cozy home at La Quercia, as did Bao Bei sous-chef Jesse Grasso. Quang Dang left his chef de cuisine position at C Restaurant to run the kitchen at Diva at the Met. Lee Humphries stepped in at C; his Irish Heather duties are now performed by former Campagnolo chef de cuisine Alvin Pillay, himself replaced by J.C. Poirier, former owner/chef of long-defunct Chow; he’s also executive consulting chef at Pourhouse following the departure for Mediterranean climes of co-owner/chef Chris Irving.
