It’s tough to know where to start the gushing thread with Vancouver’s Fresh Roots. Maybe you recognize them from their presence at the Trout Lake and Main Street Markets. Or maybe you know them from their CSA boxes. Or their community outreach programs or educational programs. But it’s tough to beat these pictures of the transformation of David Thompson Secondary a few years back to drive home what sort of folk we’re dealing with.

The transformation of David Thompson not only kickstarted the conversation about kids’ nutrition and urban land use, but is tangibly producing better food for kids in Vancouver. And now they’ve replicated the Thompson Experience at Van Tech and kicked off the Farm Roots Project with the Delta School Board. For more info check this out.

All of which makes two things certain: their July 25th fundraising longtable dinner (at David Thompson) will make you feel good, and it will taste good. In addition to the insanely fresh veggies (the dinner will be crafted by Chefs Karima Chellouf and Kym Nguyen using many ingredients that will come from 10 feet away) there’ll be beer from 33 Acres, wine and, of course, kombucha.

Tickets are available here. This event sells out, so don’t miss your chance to be a steward of our fine city while having a meal that’ll knock your socks off.
