Vancouver Craft Beer Week returns in late May with new attractions and the debut of this magazine’s own beer awards!
The founders of Vancouver Craft Beer Week likely never could have fathomed, when they established the event in 2009, that artisanal breweries would multiply with ferocious speed—locally, regionally, globally!—throughout the ensuing half decade. This year’s sixth annual edition (May 29-June 6) is reflective of the astonishing growth in craft beer: the wares of more than 100 breweries, dispensed at more than 50 local venues over 10 days. In addition to tastings, attendees can experience food pairings, live music and other entertainment, beer trivia, a beer-based cocktail competition, and much more.As well, this year brings the debut of Vancouver magazine’s own International Craft Beer Awards, presented at a special gala on May 29 at Roundhouse Community Centre. (Our call for entries brought in more than 200 labels from around the world, so expect to discover plenty of new favourites from the list of winners.)Find out more about Vancouver Craft Beer Week here, and check back regularly to Vanmag.com for the latest news.
