Phillip Johnson once said, “Arthur Erickson is by far the greatest architect in Canada, and may be the greatest on this continent.” True, his singular vision of modernism is well documented on the West Coast and the world beyond, but less is known about the man behind Erickson’s glamorous interiors. This is about to change with the launch of Francisco Kripacz: Interior Design by Arthur Erickson. A decade before Erickson’s death, the architect penned this manuscript to share with the world his respect and admiration for Kripacz who played such an instrumental role in his architectural career. The sleek and classic Erickson and Kripacz-designed furniture line, called the Erickson Design Collection, is back in manufacture and due out this spring with many pieces available for the first time. For now, get a sneak peek at some of the furniture while celebrating the legacy with the book’s launch at Inform Interiors tonight from 5-7 p.m. Interior designer Geoffrey Erickson, nephew of Arthur Erickson and the book’s designer and editor, will be on hand presenting pages.
