Legendary whisky-maker The Macallan reopens its cozy pop-up bar in Whistler.
The Library by The Macallan is a space that feels as if it were designed for winter nights like this one: inside, an open fireplace flickers softly, rare whiskies glint like jewels at the bar, the snow-capped mountains of Whistler are framed in the window and and cozy chairs seem to invite you to sit a little longer than you planned. Call it a pause button for the rush of the season—whether you are fresh off the slopes or just in the Village for a little holiday cheer.
The Library, tucked into the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler, has reopened for a second year after a thoughtful refresh, bringing with it a renewed sense of warmth and intentionality. It’s easy to imagine a father and son celebrating a great day on the slopes over an Old Fashioned, or two friends catching up after years apart. Or perhaps, you simply come alone, finding a moment of stillness in a space that doesn’t rush you. Whatever brings folks in for an après, that warmth is found on the menu too, with a lineup of cocktails that range from luminous and crisp to dark and opulent, much like the spectrum of The Macallan whiskies’ natural hues.

Assuming you are into cocktails—you’re reading this aren’t you?—we have a few humble suggestions. (The mocktails are invigorating, too, though: grab a Silent Spirit if you’re not imbibing.) First on the menu is the Curiously Clear, a cocktail as intriguing as its name. It’s built on The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old, layered with lime zest, allspice berry, clove, almond and a whisper of toffee—all in all, balanced and refreshing, a drink made for quiet reflection.
For something with more depth, order the Obsidian in Time layers The Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Years, tonka bean, espresso honey, and Sherry foam—a combination that feels as indulgent as it sounds. For an extra special treat, pair it with the lone snack on the menu: Kaviari Caviar served with gaufrette potato chips.
If you just want the whisky—and with these spirits in particular, we really wouldn’t blame you—The Library also boasts one of Canada’s largest collections of The Macallan, from the Rare Cask to the jaw-dropping Sherry Oak 30 Years Old. The adventurous might try the M Collection Flight for a glimpse into The Macallan’s rarest expressions, but we have to be real here: at nearly $2,000 an ounce, it’ll cost you. But hey, if you want to splash out, we wouldn’t dare stop you… and not just because we’ll be nestled cozily in the Library’s cushy club chairs, sleepy from that potent combo of great whisky and snowy views.
The Library is open now at the Four Seasons Whistler through April 2025.
