Million Dollar Real Estate

More people go to sleep dreaming about owning a winery than fantasizing about a 1,200-square-foot presale condo in Burnaby. But in 2014 the two take the same chunk of cash.

The winery is on the Naramata Bench, within spitting distance of such heavy hitters as Laughing Stock and Red Rooster. And while only two of its five acres are under vine, it means your winery will lose money at a more gentlemanly pace. The house is in the unkempt Brady Bunch style — more than functional, but not somewhere you’d have the von Mandls over. Still, the views of Okanagan Lake are killer and the driveway has the potential to be grand.
The condo, meanwhile, is attached to Metrotown, the Naramata Bench of B.C. malls, and of course, it’s not built yet. But a closer look reveals the funny thing about dreams: the winery is being sold by court order, while Burnaby condos have increased in value over last year.
