Kendra Hagerman

“I’ll be the first to admit that I have Champagne tastes,” says Kendra Hagerman, “but I’ve always believed that being stylish doesn’t mean you have to break the bank.” Her favourite outfit combines a Halston Heritage dress and a pair of $2 heels.

Liam Hanham

Liam Hanham, who works in finance by day, says, “In Yaletown everything is done with money-for
better or worse.” He goes to Gastown and Main for on-trend fashion, downtown for the perfect well-fitting suit, and East Van for the best tattoos. “Fashion is an expression of oneself. You are using your body as a canvas, and if you think you look good, that is all that should matter when you leave your house. Almost everyone is flattered by my assessment of them, and giving people a little boost is a very rewarding experience.”

Melanie Kobayashi

“I look for people who shine,” says Melanie Kobayashi, a painter who is influenced by “explosive abstract expressionist painting, and romantic notions of ’20s-era Paris.” Kobayashi has found a parallel between people in their 20s and in their 40s, when it comes to taking risks in style: “Both groups are often concerned less with trend-watching and more with self-expression, no matter the form. Today’s rule breakers are tomorrow’s trendsetters.”
