La Taqueria (Gold) impressed the judges with its “authentic palette of Mexican flavours” and “tacos and quesadillas right out of the stratosphere. This food is the real deal, and the pricing reflects the times.” Latitude (Silver) scored with “tone-perfect dishes like citrus- spiked halibut and shrimp ceviche” on “a menu that bespeaks Lisa Henderson and Larry Nicolay’s love of South American flavours with hints of Mediterranean tastes.” Bronze went to Doña Cata (“an unpretentious little room that serves up excellent, fresh Mexican food”), while Honourable Mentions went to Cobre (for its “dependable Latin crossover dishes”) and Memphis Blues (“the best barbecue in town”).
