Best Pizzeria 2013

GOLD: NICLI ANTICA PIZZERIA

Silver: Pizzeria Farina | Bronze: Via Tevere | Honourable Mentions: Campagnolo Roma, Verace

Nicli (Gold) swept this category when it debuted last year, and the Gastown-meets-Naples charmer does it again now for pizzas all “blisters and bubbles,” raved one judge, “crispy but soft enough to fold."

J.C. Poirier’s nearby Farina holds on to Silver with delicious, unpretentious pies focused on local, fresh greens and perfect crusts. (The mushroom-arugula is the bomb.)

Bronze to newcomer Via Tevere, a room judges loved not just for its food but for amping up a rural block of Victoria Drive. “I’m genuinely considering moving into the ’hood just to get closer,” said one.

Honourable Mentions to Campagnolo Roma for wicked salami, an eggs Benny pie (really, check out the weekend brunch menu), and that endlessly scarfable whipped ricotta with pane bianco, and to just-sold Verace, for delectable white pizzas like the Salerno with fig jelly and goat cheese.
