Why You Should Eat Out for Every Meal this Thursday
Dining Out for Life is giving you the ultimate go-ahead to fulfill all your foodie desires.
March 19, 2018
As if you needed another excuse to chow down at fabulous local restaurants, this Thursday (March 22) your dinner date can do more than satisfy your appetite. Participating restaurants in Dining Out for Life are forking over 25 percent of their food sales in support of individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS and co-existing illnesses. Serving everything from gnocchi alfredo to massaman curry to zigeuner schnitzel, restaurants from Whistler to White Rock are dishing out for a cause (check out a full list of participating restaurants here).
Now, we’re not saying you should call in sick to work in order to to indulge in charitable cuisine for all three meals. All we’re saying is, with the proper time management and access to transportation, such an endeavour is totally feasible. For example, one could wake up for patatas gravas at Kulinarya, swing by Fable for crispy rock fish at lunchtime, and finish off the evening with a capricciosa pie from Pizzeria Farina. Or grab eggs florentine from Joe’s Grill, a steak sandwich at West Oak and chicken fajitas (extra guac) from Las Margaritas. Alternatively, just hang at Big Rock Urban Brewery for 12 hours straight—this Mount Pleasant eatery is donating a quarter of food sales for every meal, all day.
More than 60 restaurants are participating in this day-long fundraiser. The profits go to A Loving Spoonful, an organization that provides food-related support for those affected by HIV/AIDS, including nutritional counselling, meal delivery and a family pantry program. In collaboration with doctors, dieticians, nurses and community partners, their goal is to ensure that no one with HIV/AIDS goes hungry. So, whether you pop in for happy hour or make a full day of it, chow down for a great cause this Thursday.
