Best West Side 2015

Best West End Restaurant winners of Vancouver Magazine's 26th Annual Restaurant Awards

April 21, 2015

  • Gold: Bufala
  • Silver: Farmer’s Apprentice
  • Bronze: Maenam
  • Honourable Mentions: Bishop’s, La Buca

Bufala (Gold) swooped into Kerrisdale last year—long a no man’s land in terms of attractive dining options—and instantly became “what every neighbourhood wishes it had,” couples and families piling through its door for beautifully blistered stone-oven-baked pizzas with toppings that range from classic (a punchy margherita) to eccentric (braised oxtail and kale). Farmer’s Apprentice (Silver) survived the deafening buzz of its first year and kept crowds coming back for David Gunawan’s ever-changing menu of market-driven creations; his weekend brunch is the best solution we know of for eggs-and-mimosa fatigue. At Maenam (Bronze), Angus An’s “bold yet balanced” Thai dishes remain some of the best eating to be had in Kits—too few people seem to consider it for lunch, but what could be better as a midday nosh than authentic, snappily fresh pad Thai and a Singha lager? Honourable Mentions: Bishop’s, La Buca
