New CHI, The Spa Menu Brings Global Inspiration to Vancouver
The luxurious Shangri-La spa introduces new menu of signature treatments from around the world

CHI, The Spa’s signature massages are available at Shangri-Las all around the world (for a good reason: they’re heavenly) but at each location, guests will find something special on the menu, too: from Bangkok to Manila, the Sense of Place menu at each CHI, The Spa features exclusive treatments inspired by local wellness rituals.
But soon you won’t have to travel far to test out these local techniques. The new Sense of Adventure menu, launching at the end of April, brings those global treatments to your nearby Shangri-La, giving spa-lovers a chance to explore healing customs from all across Asia, from Japan to India to Thailand. “It’s about highlighting our sister spas around the world and celebrating our roots,” explains Michelle Punj, spa manager for CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver
Book an Ayurvedic Podikizhi massage and you’ll be transported to India: the luxurious treatment utilizes coconut-filled compresses, heated in aromatic oils, to release toxins and ease tension. The Wushu treatments take their inspiration from restorative stretching associated with the Chinese martial art—before warm bamboo is rolled along your muscles, you’ll be treated to guided stretching and breathing exercises to open the meridians. Or, choose a Thai massage, which is influenced by yoga; your expert practitioner uses body weight and rhythmic palm pressure to release lingering tension. “This new menu gives people a chance to explore and experiment,” says Punj. “It’s a journey to the East.”
Of course, if you’d prefer a treatment with some west coast flair, Vancouver’s own Sense of Place menu features exclusive options inspired by the Pacific Northwest. But whether you’re testing out a wild seaweed facial or enjoying a toxin-releasing bamboo rub, you’re sure to leave feeling amazing and ready to take on the world.
