This May, Crafted Vancouver invites you to celebrate craft by exploring unique pieces in smaller quantities with greater meaning. Their inaugural festival, showcasing the best in local, national and international professional craft, happens May 4-28 across Metro Vancouver. Take in the works and worlds of skilled craftspeople from a wide range of practices through tastings, self-guided tours, workshops, showcases and more.
Whether it’s sipping fine Whiskey at Hycroft Manor or exploring architecture and wardrobe backstage at the Opera, this year’s theme of, “Made to be Discovered” invites you to dig a little deeper into the variety of places we find craft. “In a mass-market, disposable culture, there’s an opportunity to revive our appreciation for quality goods and reconnect with those who produce them,” says Carrie Ross, the festival’s Director. Crafted Vancouver aims to connect the community not only with craft goods, but also the practice, to showcase and celebrate the stories and processes that go into the creation of the unique and hand-made.
Make sure to celebrate all things craft through this eye-opening, one-of-a-kind experience. Visit the Crafted Vancouver website for a full description of events and craftspeople.
