Information for writers:
Stories published in Vancouver magazine
must be related to the city of Vancouver or the Lower
Mainland in some way. They are often current affairs-oriented
and should have a unique and fresh perspective on the
topic. Most stories are under 1,500 words. Unfortunately,
we do not publish poetry or fiction.
The best way to approach us with a story idea is to
either mail or email a brief query letter. Please also
include a cover letter with a summary of published credits
as well as tear sheets of previously published work.
Keep in mind that we have a six-week lead time. Please
review a current issue of the magazine to familiarize
yourself with our sections before pitching us.
You can reach the Vancouver magazine editorial department
at mail@vancouvermagazine.com.
Our mailing address is 560-2608 Granville St., Vancouver
B.C., V6H 3V3.
Please be aware that we have a small number
of staff members and we receive a large number of queries,
so it may not always be possible for us to respond to
your query.
Information for illustrators and photographers:
Vanmag is always looking for talented
photographers and illustrators to contribute to our
pages. We are open to viewing both professional and
student work. We are also interested in visual story
ideas or series (pending or complete) that relate directly
to this city and surrounding areas, past or present.
Submit your work by sending a link to an online portfolio,
or email lo-res samples, to tdufault@vancouvermagazine.com.
Due to a small staff and impending deadlines, please
do not call.
Thank you for your interest in Vancouver magazine.
