Inside Parq Vancouver’s Most Luxurious Hotel Suites

Our nosiness knows no bounds.

Not only does the multi-floor casino house five full restaurants (have you seen our preview tour of Honey Salt and 1886 btw?), but somehow Parq is also hiding two separate boutique hotels: the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver and the Douglas. We asked Parq to show us their most high-rolling, primo-VIP suites and you know what? They totally gave in to our demands. The room rates for each of these suites starts at $5,000 per night, in low season, when the moon is only half full—but the following site visit is completely free.

1. The Sky Suite

JW’s concept is the lighter, brighter, ethereal sister of the two hotels, with an emphasis on quiet sophistication and understated luxury, and its Sky Suite is the perfect example. With interiors designed by Studio Munge, it has a light dusty pastel palette crazy 180-degree-plus panorama of windows that includes views of ultra-pillowy BC Place, so you get that above-the-clouds feeling.

The Deets: 1,985 square feet, 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms (the master’s has a massive soaker tub and his and her sinks), plus the circular media room in the middle has a 75-inch TV (3 a.m. Olympic viewing party anyone?).

BC Place is to the left, and this whole left side is windows too (a shame you can’t see it here, but trust us, it’s PURE MAGIC).
Le media room with le massive TV.

2. The Den

The Den is literally the rockstar suite at the Douglas hotel, envisioned to be like a cool musician’s hang-out for after-parties and jam sessions (a karaoke machine comes with). The Douglas as a hotel—conceptualized by Rob Wells of SixteenFifty Creative Intelligence and designed by Toronto-born Vincent Celano—is darker, moodier, more masculine. Lots of rich golds, à propos wood accents (the lobby desk is built out of a Douglas fir trunk), cool photography and games (pool, foosball, piano).

The Deets: 2,200 square feet, 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (one powder), 85-inch TV, integrated stereo and record storage by pool table.

This curved sofa is tailor-made for sipping champers over a heated game of Cards Against Humanity.
The cocktail-making station a.k.a. marble bar is steps away from the pool table, so you won’t miss a thing. SPEAKING OF, if Aerosmith stayed anywhere while attending the David Foster Foundation Miracle Gala, we bet it was here.
Neon devil horns and a two-storey light fixture jazz up this between-room interlude.

3. The Loft

At 2,200 square feet, this might be the most extravagant one-bedroom in the city. The geometric rug upstairs is a real stunner, and there’s a ton of custom lighting that makes this space look very un-hotel. Some more Douglas perks: mini bars stocked with Douglas fir-infused gin made locally at Yaletown Distilling company.

The Deets: 2,200 square feet, 1 bedroom, 2 full bathrooms, two powder rooms, one killer patio, piano, two-storey fireplace.

VanMag has put in a formal request to move our office of 26 people here. Fingers crossed!

Hotel suite? Is that you?
For those late-night ivory-tickling sessions—and look, there’s a perfect spot on top of the piano to sit your poutine after you get home from the bar.
Yes, this is a rooftop patio and it’s 400 (ENVY-INDUCING) square feet.

Mark our words, having a friend who’s staying at one of these Parq suites is the new “having a friend with a boat.”
