Ray Signorello’s Napa Valley Winery Has Been Destroyed

The West Vancouver vintner’s acclaimed winery has fallen victim to the wildfires that are sweeping through Napa and Sonoma.

Few people in Vancouver have done more to promote the wines of Napa Valley than West Vancouver’s Ray Signorello. While names like Robert Mondavi and Francis Ford Coppola seemed more like brands than real people, Ray took the prime piece of land his father, Ray Sr., bought on Napa’s famed Silverado Trail and not only turned it into a world-class winery, but also made sure there was always a close connection between the winery and his home city. There’s nary a charity auction in Vancouver that doesn’t feature something from the winery, and every time the Napa vintners arrive in town Ray is at the front of the group being a civic ambassador.All of which makes yesterday’s news that his winery was completely destroyed by the Northern California fires all the more gutting. Several other high profile spots have been badly damaged—Stags’ Leap and William Hill among them, but none suffered the complete devastation of Signorello.
