It’s going to be a great sunny weekend for grilling some salmon, which pairs beautifully with an earthy and juicy pinot noir. Tabali is in the Limarí Valley, in the windy north of Chile’s winelands, where constant ocean breezes, cool sunshine, and limestone combine to provide the kind of growing environment that pinot noir demands. Smelling of violets, cherry, and subtle smoke, this wine’s palate is fleshy with red-fruit flavours, mouthwatering acidity, soft tannins, and a mineral stamp to its long finish. A winner in the Light Red category of our 11th annual Wine Awards, it’s one of Chile’s finest pinots—fairly priced and just begging for that sockeye.
