Negroni Week is Upon Us!

Hit these watering holes and throw back some bitter sweet love—all in the name of charity.

The negroni is as close to cocktail perfection as it gets—three ingredients (gin, sweet vermouth, Campari), in equal parts means it’s the perfect drink for the layperson. And while you can monkey with the brand of gin or vermouth, the one constant is the Campari—which is probably why they’re the driving force behind Negroni Week, which kicked off yesterday and runs until June 11 with parties at the Granville Room on June 8 (9 p.m. to 1 a.m.) and June 9 (5 p.m. to 11 p.m.).

But if the Granville strip is not your cup of mayhem, no worries: a multitude of bars across the city are all doing their own variations on the classic drink and they’re earmarking the profits from each Negroni to charities of their choice. Our friends at the Acorn, for example, are making a Rhubie Tuesday: “a mid-week indulgence that makes any day feel like Friday. This perfect summer sipper turns the daytime doldrums into a distant haze as the fresh scent of rhubarb, strawberry and blood orange transport you to a sun soaked meadow spinning with the sounds of singing birds.”

Rhubie Tuesday

1.5 oz Rhubarb Infused Bombay Sapphire Gin
.75 oz Lillet Rouge
.5 oz Campari
House Chamomile Tincture
Dehydrated Strawberry
Blood Orange Spray

They’re donating the profits from this to we.org so you can get a a buzz on while thinking how much more Craig Kielburger has accomplished than you have. There’s a huge number of participating bars: all Earls restaurants, The H2 Rotisserie at the Westin Bayshore, Koerner’s Pub at UBC. Here’s a handy tool to find who’s in, what they’re making and what charity your supporting with your imbibing.
