Foradori Dolomiti Teroldego 2014, Italy, $34
Off-the-beaten-path wine from the world’s best teroldego producer. (How many are there?) For cabernet lovers who want to branch out.

Domaine Vacheron Sancerre 2015, France, $43
Here’s my budget buster. Serious Sancerre from one of the region’s great producers. Sauvignon blanc at its best.

Hidalgo Manzanilla La Gitana, Spain, $25.50
This puts us over budget by $2.50, but you can open the bottle and take the week to finish it. Saline, nutty and fresh. A perfect aperitif or after dinner with some salty cheese.
