Say, “Oui!” to Food and Fundraising

Tuesday, March 21

The 25th edition of the Greasy Spoon Diner fundraising supper series is also part of Good France, a one-night international celebration of French gastronomy. Chef Alison Ramage and the team at Save On Meats will serve a French feast complete with cocktail and wine pairings. Proceeds will go to A Better Life Foundation, providing food and job training for people in need.

When: March 21, seatings at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Watch a Movie in a Morgue

Thursday, March 23

Yes, you read that right. Every month The Vancouver Police Museum screens movies in what used to be the police station’s morgue. This month’s film is Point Break, so you can marvel at Keanu’s detective/surfing skills while surrounded by the ghosts of Vancourites past.

Go on a Night Hike

Saturday, March 25

Explorers of all ages can discover the magic of Pacific Spirit Park at Night Quest. Learn about nocturnal critters and marvel at nature in the dark while walking 2 k.m. of lantern lit trails. The evening includes a bon fire, astronomy site and a drumming circle. Make sure to bring a flashlight or lantern!

When: March 25, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Learn Throat Singing from a Mongolian Music Ensemble

You know you’ve always wanted to. Anda Union fuses musical traditions from different nomadic Mongolian cultures, making for a lively and powerful performance. Before their concert at the Chan Centre, join band members for an incredible throat singing workshop. Bonus? You’ll be the star of your work’s “what did you do this weekend?” Monday catch-up.

Make a Beer Can Race Car

Sunday, March 26

Turn your empty beer cans into trophies and bragging rights at The Beer Can Derby. Contests are invited to race against over 10 local breweries with their own car made of beer cans down a giant track. $5 craft beer cans are served all race long with 100% of proceeds going to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
