The exciting City of Bhangra Festival runs from June 11 to June 17, and includes everything from Funk Bhangra dance workshops, DJ sets, live performances, films and more! Of note is an evening with poet and multi-media artist Rupi Kaur, whose beautiful book Milk and Honey is an international hit.

Hunt for Bargains

Saturday, June 17

Nothing says summer like a good garage sale and if you are looking for the one garage sale to rule them all, check out the Great Grandview. This enormous event sees over 200 sales all taking place in the scenic neighbourhood of Grandview Woodland. Visit their website for a complete treasure map of potential deals and bargains.

Dance to a Mariachi Band

Saturday, June 17

If you can’t get enough of the “charro” suits, guitars, violins, bass, trumpets and sweet sounds of Mexican music, then head down to the 7th Annual Mariachi Festival Canada. Running from June 13 to June 17, the festival includes both performances from Mariachi bands as well as a Mariachi seminar. The grand finale will feature performances by Indigenous folkloric dancers and incredible Mariachi bands from Mexico, the U.S. and Canada.

Play Catch for Father’s Day

Sunday, June 18

If you’re going to play a game of catch, why not do it at a stadium like the pros? Have fun with your Father or Father figure playing a classic game of catch at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium, home of the Vancouver Canadians. Bring a mitt, a ball and your throwing arm!

Boogie at a Roller Disco

Sunday, June 18

It’s time to bring out your short shorts, your long socks and your big hair for RollerGirl.ca and Shop Task Skate’s Pop-Up Roller Disco. With classics from funk, disco and R&B blasting and prizes for best costume, you can show off your roller moves like you’re Patrick Swayze in Skatetown U.S.A. Don’t have any moves? There will be beginners’ inline and quad lessons from 6-7 p.m.

When: 6p.m. to 10 p.m.
