The dust may have just settled, but The Seattle Art Fair (presented by AIG), is already celebrating. Now in its third year, the annual event, which highlights the finest artists
from both Seattle and abroad, experienced record numbers both in terms of exhibitors and attendees.
The catalyst for this year’s growth may have on turning the focus inward. When reflecting upon the event, Laura Fried, the Artistic Director of Seattle Art Fair said, “The programming has taken a strong focus on public engagement.” This engagement resulted in 8 on-site projects, 5 talks, 2 off-site projects, one film premiere and collections by 100 exhibitors from Europe, Asia and North America.
The shift in programming was an absolute win, as the fair welcomed 22,500 guests (a 25% increase from last year), and received glowing press reviews from around the world. The event is more than just a celebration of local art however, it’s an opportunity for Seattle’s bourgeoning creative community to share their work with international art dealers and collectors, ensuring the next wave of Seattle’s artists earn their rightful space on the international stage.
When speaking about the future, Max Fishko, the Director of Seattle Art Fair said: “We are pleased by the increase in attendance by collectors from the greater Pacific Northwest, the regional US, and the international art world… We look forward to continuing to establish the Seattle Art Fair as the premiere fair for modern and contemporary art on the West Coast.”
The Seattle Art Fair is a one-of- a-kind destination for the best in modern and contemporary art and a showcase for the vibrant arts community of the Pacific Northwest. The fair brings together the region’s strong collector base, comprised of local, national, and international galleries, area museums and institutions and an array of innovative public programming.
