"I’m currently in the middle of Season 3 of Homeland. Yes. I am that behind in what has been on the TV waves over the years."

Troubadour Royal Wood hits the Fox Cabaret on May 15 in support of his latest album, Ever After The Farewell—a title reflecting a particularly challenging year, when he both lost his father to illness and fell in love, and got married. “Life showed me first hand that I had never felt true grief before, nor did I understand love either until now,” says Wood. “It’s been a year of true paradigm shifts.”

When he’s not on the road, expect to find him channelling both vulnerability and courage courtesy of Brené Brown, and attempting to catch up on years of television shows missed.

What I’m reading…

The Dubliners by James Joyce
Daring Greatly by Brené Brown

I usually have a few books on the go. I tend to read fiction, biographies and manuals for self-development. Right now I am re-reading The Dubliners by James Joyce. It’s classic fiction that all should read. As well, I have Daring Greatly by Brené Brown on the go. It is basically a manual on how to foster the courage to allow vulnerability to transform the way we live.

What I’m listening to…

We’re All Gonna Die by Dawes
The Party by Andy Shauf

My favourite band these days is Dawes, for sure. My wife introduced me to their music and I can’t stop listening to their entire catalog. Especially their latest album We’re All Gonna Die produced by Blake Mills. The Canadian artist at the top of my listening charts these days is Andy Shauf.

What I’m streaming…

Homeland Season 3

I’m currently in the middle of Season 3 of Homeland. Yes. I am that behind in what has been on the TV waves over the years. I guess it’s because I was never much of a TV viewer. I always preferred playing or listening to music, or reading as an outlet for entertainment.

What I leave the house for…

I leave the house most often to go for a run or to take a walk around town on a date night with my wife. Since I spend my life performing, writing and recording music, I tend to not go to many shows when I’m not working on my career.
