Condo of the Week: $740,000 for 2 bedrooms in Chinatown

The apartment is also half a block away from Torafuku and Farina pizzeria (yum)

March 23, 2016

The details: 1101-120 Milross Ave. | $739,900 | 1,035 sq. ft. |2 bed, 2 bath

The condo: This spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom corner unit features great mountain, city, and (some) water views—and you’ll get to look at them through floor-to-ceilings windows. It’s good for entertaining too: the living room can handle bigger furniture, the dining area easily seats six, and the covered patio features a cozy gas fireplace for chilly winter evenings.

The building: The Brighton was built in 2004 by Bosa. Amenities include an indoor pool and hot tub, sauna, gym, and amenity room.

The neighbourhood: City Gate is a neighbourhood that was created by developers in the late ’90s as a premier waterfront community. It didn’t really stick at the time. Now, with the growth of Olympic Village, Gastown, and Chinatown all around it, the neighbourhood is finally primed to take off. It’s easy walking distance to the Seawall, SkyTrain, downtown, and all the neighbourhood restaurants that are popping up nearby. If and when the viaducts come down and the waterfront park gets built, that could be another boost to the area.

The potential downsides: There is some noise from the SkyTrain, and the area to the east is still a work-in-progress in terms of sketchiness.
