Condo of the week: A townhouse fit for a family for $828K
At this price, finding a home big enough to house a family is a bit like discovering a unicorn
May 27, 2016
The details: 3790 Commercial Street | $828,000 | 1167 sq. ft. | 3 bed, 2 bath
The Condo: It’s like finding a unicorn in this crazy market: a three bedroom, two bathroom townhouse 15 minutes from downtown, under a million dollars. Perfect for a young family, with three ‘real’ bedrooms, this bright and modern home checks all the boxes. It has an open floor plan, sleek kitchen with gas range, spacious living-dining area, maple hardwood floors, and large back patio off the main level. The master bedroom comes with a walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom, and there’s two generous bedrooms for kids or office space. There’s even mountain views from the third-floor patio.
The Building: Brix is a community-focused and family-friendly townhouse complex built in 2005. The open courtyard style entrance offers up a slight European feel.
The Neighbourhood: Commercial Street, not to be confused with Commercial Drive, is still an eclectic mix of light industrial mechanical shops, 80-year-old houses, and sparkling new townhouses. The community feel is coming, as are a few little shops and eateries, but the area still has some growing up to do. That said, the location is still central with easy walking access to The Drive and all the amenities of Trout Lake Park.
Potential Downsides: While the complex is modern and stylish, the street appeal is still lacking, with light industrial shops still scattered amongst residential homes.
