5 Thrilling Events Happening in Vancouver This Week (Oct. 8-14)
Witches, clowns and improvised theatre—it’s spooky season.
October 9, 2018
Get your laugh on at Vancouver TheatreSports’ Halloween celebration, Spooktober. With four different spook-themed shows and special creepy cocktails (Killer Kool-Aid, anyone?) there’s something to make any skeleton snicker. Check out Cult Fiction, an improvised cult documentary inspired by audience suggestions.
Celebrate the life of a clown in Cirque du Soleil’s newest breathtaking show, Corteo. Expect performers suspended by giant balloons, trapeze artists tossed in the air, and a whole lot of professional fools. Also expect to feel totally jealous that you can’t do the splits.
Singing, dancing, haircuts, death – is there anything that could make Sweeney Todd more thrilling? It turns out, the answer is yes, because the entire production can take place in a pie shop. The Snapshots Collective’s Sweeney Todd is a site-specific production set in a cozy pop-up pie shop in Gastown. Audience members can also purchase a meat pie post-show, if they can stomach it.
Accio, party! Summon your inner wizard at Wizardfest’s Harry Potter Party. This 19+ Hogwarts-themed dance party has hard butterbeer, a costume contest, and a zero tolerance policy for owls, cats, or toads. Call us nerds all you want—we’re Sirius-ly excited.
Glow with the flow at the Vancouver Glow Party 2018, our city’s biggest glow party. There’s no need to hit up your dollar store for glow sticks; all of your neon needs will be supplied at the venue. It’s the perfect date night—everyone knows you’re at your most attractive when your teeth are glowing under a blacklight.
