5 Gorgeous Events Happening in Vancouver This Week (April 8-14)
April 8, 2019
These pretty picks look good, feel good, and do good.
Check out feathered, furry, and scaly stars at the Elements Film Festival, Vancouver’s second annual environmental film festival. Highlights include Force of Nature, a film that explores David Suzuki’s career (bonus: he’ll be there to introduce the project) and the Future of Energy panel discussion, where you can get all the new energy tech gossip from expert panelists.
April 10-May 5
Flower up your feed at the Chilliwack Tulip Festival, a millennial’s photo paradise. Blooming this week in rows and mosaics are 10 varieties of hyacinths and 17 varieties of daffodils, which we’ve heard are some very photogenic flowers. Next week the fest will be rolling in food trucks, a gift shop, the Rotary Train, and tractor rides. Make sure you bring that friend who gets all your good angles.
Clucks and Queens
Name a better duo than drag queens and fried chicken – we’ll wait. Juke Fried Chicken is serving up both drag queens and drumsticks at their Southern Pride Chicken event, where tickets include canapes, two drinks, and a three-course family-style fried chicken feast. Drag performances from Vancouver’s Kendall Gender and Calgary’s Perla Coddington are just the cherry (or gravy?) on top.
Bask in the peaceful glory that is the cherry blossom at the Sakura Days Japan Fair – and enjoy a little sake while you’re at it, too. This floral fest is celebrating it’s 10 year anniversary with taiko drummers, martial arts, and koto (Japanese harp) performances, plus hands-on activities like ikebana, origami and tea ceremonies.
Enjoy the flavours of Brittan Vineyards from the comfort of Tuc Craft Kitchen at their Brittan Vineyards Wine Dinner this Sunday. The Oregon vineyard specializes in pinot noir, and four of the five courses served will feature a different glass of pinot. Dishes include wild mushroom pâté, roast pork loin farci and lemon pudding cake with smoked apricot sauce. Cheers to a beautiful week!
