Party Like a Pig

Through March 2

Celebrate a new year filled with good fortune at the Lunar New Year Festival, a calendar full of food, events and activities taking place in Vancouver and Richmond. Highlights include Flight of the Dragon at Flyover Canada (where participants can soar over China’s gorgeous landscapes – on the heels of a dragon, of course) and New Butterfly Lovers, an ancient tale brought to life through contemporary ballet. Don’t hog the dumplings.

Get the Point

January 29 – February 2

Explore the complexities of love, sex and disability in This is The Point, an uplifting and gritty play about four people whose lives have been shaped by cerebral palsy. The show is made up of staged conversations and theatrical re-enactments of real moments from the lives of the actors. It puts a spotlight on stories that aren’t normally shared on stage – you won’t want to miss it.

When: Tuesday, January 29 – Saturday, February 2
Where: Historic Theatre
Cost: From $24

Say Willkommen

January 31 – February 24

Don’t tell your mother – Studio 58’s production of Cabaret starts this week, and you can bet from the nudity and vulgarity warnings that it’s going to be a good show. Get immersed in the wild world of fishnets, feathers, and not-so-thinly-veiled fascism at the Kit Kat Klub as quirky characters sing and dance their way through a never-ending party. The first three performances are already sold out – get your hände on some tickets soon.

When: Thursday, January 31 – Sunday, February 24
Where: Studio 58
Cost: From $12.50

If you are an acro expert, enthusiast, or just a very brave amateur, you’re going to want to check out the Vancouver Acro Festival. Better start stretching.
