One of the most anticipated wine events in Vancouver, Top Drop is landing this week to celebrate not just wine but also breweries, cideries and foodies who are dedicated to creating the best of the best. The main event will feature tastings from these craftsmen as well as terroir focused wineries. Additional events include a tasting of Croatian wines at L’Abbatoir, a rosé and sausage party at Wildebeest and an overview of Napa Valley wines at Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar. Cheers to that!

Socially and politically charged artworks have a long history in the culture and folkloric arts of Latin America. Arts of Resistance: Politics and the Past of Latin America showcases provocative and powerful works from all across Latin America stemming from times of political turmoil and upheaval. Join the opening celebration of this incredible exhibit, including a performance by members of a women’s art collective from the Amazonian Shipibo-Konibo diaspora in Lima, Peru.

Bob Ross meets Battle Royal; Art Battle is a live painting tournament fuelled by creativity and community. Twelve artists will compete over three rounds to become the champion via audience vote. This is the Vancouver edition of an international phenomenon, with all paintings available for silent auction at the end of the show.

The Vancouver Comic Arts Festival is back! Expect to find a smorgasbord of amazing comics and DIY books, talks from artists, workshops for kids and more. One of VanCAF’s featured artists, Yvan Alagbe, will be debuting the English translation of his book, Yellow Negroes and Other Mythical Creatures which includes stories about race, love and the lives of undocumented workers in Paris.
