Take a Sip from the Backcountry

Taste the hops, barley and sweet sweet air of Squamish without tackling the Seat to Sky at Get Out of the Woods, one of many tap takeovers at Bells and Whistles. This week features the delicious brews of Backcountry Brewery from Squamish including their intriguingly named Secret Handshake IPA and Stop Short Imperial Stout.

Belly Laugh with the Best in Comedy

March 1 to 10

Get ready for the 10-day roller coaster of comedy that is JFL NorthWest. Featuring everything from international stand-up to local sketch, podcasts to a new comedy film series, the festival is sure to turn that frown inside out. Of note is triple-threat comedian, actress and writer Sasheer Zamata, a former SNL cast member whose stand-up and storytelling is the gold standard in chuckles.

See Dance in a New Light

March 1 to 24

Eerie and other worldly figures in red; a bold and humorous exploration of violence; Flamenco and Japanese theatre hybrids… all this and more await at the Vancouver International Dance Festival. VIDF brings features incredibly original performances, workshops, life drawing sessions and a series of free shows performed at the Roundhouse Community Centre.

Dance to the Tunes of your Gen X and/or Millennial Youth

It doesn’t matter whether you prefer scrunchies over chokers, shoulder pads over platforms or borrowed over genuine nostalgia, at The Fox Cabaret you can have both. The ultimate PB&J of dance parties, 80s vs 90s Night features the biggest hits from both eras, spun by Common People DJs (Guilty Pleasures) and Trevor Risk (The Y2k Party).

Go Shopping at Woodwards

March 3 and 4

Treat yourself or a friend to something nice to chase away the (second) winter blues and support a local cause. The Woodwards Market features goods made by artisans, vintage clothing and house wares, original artwork and more. This pop-up is put on by Vintage and Handmade Society Markets who will be collaborating with various local charities.
